Tara Granahan Wpro discusses the Federal Court decision on Truck Tolling in RI with Leader Michael Chippendale:
We have already been ranked the 44th unfriendliest business state in the nation, and this decision is going to impact RI businesses more heavily than interstate trucking. And the only way our businesses can absorb this blow is to pass along the costs in the pricing of the goods and services that they provide, which in most cases will be RI consumers. So, this is definitely not a good day in RI.
We have a serious situation, as we borrowed money through bonds up front to execute the RoadWorks program. We are on the hook for those payments that were going to be covered through the tolling. Now Leadership (Governor, Speaker, Senate President) has the extremely difficult decision to address the payments of these costs. Residents of RI are on the hook either way for this ill-conceived program. This is a state fiscal issue. Our state government is full of inefficiencies and abuse. As our government grows with administrators and communications personnel, we are seeing our infrastructure falling apart. We need an Inspector General. LIKE THIS PAGE? SHARE IT WITH OTHERS
