ABOUT REP. Justin k. priceJustin K. Price was first elected to represent the residents from District 39 in November 2014, which includes the towns of Richmond, Exeter and a portion of Hopkinton. He serves as a member of four of the House Standing Committees: Veteran’s Affairs (considers legislation that impacts the lives of Rhode Island Veterans); Small Business (reviews matters relating to the streamlining of licenses and permits, eliminating or decreasing steps and uncoordinated duplicate filings, and reducing associated costs to businesses); Special Legislation; and Municipal Government and Housing (deliberates on legislation affecting municipal government, housing matters, constituent interests and transportation).
Price offers a staunch conservative voice within the Rhode Island General Assembly. During the 2019 Legislative Session he sponsored bills protecting public funds distribution to convenience abortion entities; and offered residential zoning protections from marijuana growth businesses. In 2016, Price successfully sponsored legislation to reconfigure the CHARIHO Regional School Committee. The committee’s composition is now based on the most recent census data to reflect the population distribution between the member communities. During the 2020/21 legislative sessions, the Republican Caucus moved the needle on a number of important state government issues on behalf of Rhode Island’s hardworking taxpayers. Price has made a living first, as a fisherman, and then as a carpenter. He has spent much of his time helping to revitalize Historic Shannock Village in Richmond. He also serves as an active member of the Richmond Historical Society. Price resides in Richmond, with his wife. 2019 RI FREEDOM INDEX LEGISLATOR SCORECARD
The 2019 Freedom Index was created by the RI Center for Freedom & Prosperity. The Freedom Index examines a legislator's voting record in terms of their likely effect on the free market, the size and scope of government, the balance of residents' interests against those of public employees and beneficiaries, and the constitutional structure of government over the people it represents. In the Rhode Island General Assembly, 95 pieces of legislation were analyzed from the 2019 legislative session. The membership of the House Republican Caucus ranked in the top fifteen of Rhode Island General Assembly legislators (there are 110) who consistently vote for liberty in the State of Rhode Island.
