STATE HOUSE – Rep. Doreen M. Costa (R-Dist. 31, North Kingstown, Exeter) has been appointed to the Special Legislative Commission on Defense Economy Planning. The appointment was announced this week by Speaker of the House Gordon D. Fox.
The commission was created by legislation approved by the 2010 General Assembly and is charged with making recommendations on policies to help preserve the state’s current defense economy and to provide incentives for new investments.
The 25-member commission includes six members of the Senate and six member of the House of Representatives as well as representatives of the Rhode Island Economic Development Corporation, the Department of Transportation, the Rhode Island National Guard, the Community College of Rhode Island and several private businesses and chambers of commerce. Representative Costa is serving her second term in the House. She is a member of the House Judiciary Committee, the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee and the House Commission to Study Public Higher Education Affordability. -30-
