STATE HOUSE – Rep. Doreen Marie Costa (R-Dist. 31, North Kingstown, Exeter) announced commuters will continue to enjoy free parking at the Park and Ride lot located at the intersection of Routes 102 and 2. The State Properties Committee today tabled an amended proposal by the Rhode Island Department of Transportation calling for the sale of the current Park and Ride without establishing an alternative location for commuters.
Representative Costa appeared atthe committee’s meeting today stating her opposition to the DOT proposal which called for the sale of the Park and Ride without establishing a new, free commuter parking lot.
“It has always been my goal to have DOT establish a new, free lot for commuters should the current property be sold,” said Representative Costa. “I am pleased that DOT’s amended proposal was not accepted."
Recent reports indicate that CVS is interested in purchasing the property
