HOUSE MINORITY WELCOMES NEW MEMBERS

​​Providence, RI - The House Minority Caucus is proud to welcome David Place, Jack Lyle, and George Nardone to the State House. All three members each offer a unique skillset and the caucus is excited to continue working for the people of Rhode Island.

​David Place is a retired Staff Sergeant who served as a Tank Commander on an M1A1 Abrams. He proudly served our country in the United States Army from August of 1996 to October 2006. He was deployed to Iraq as part of OIF II and was decorated for leadership and heroism while in combat. Upon returning home, Representative Elect Place graduated from Rhode Island College and is married to his wife Erin and a father to his daughter Michelle. He is a graduate of New England Tech’s Ship Building and Advanced Manufacturing and works as a CNC Machine Operator for a family owned Rhode Island business.

Representative elect Place stated: “I want to work to bring local control back to our cities, towns and school committees where the voters have the most influence and can more easily hold elected officials accountable for their actions.” He promises to bring a “blue-collar Republican” perspective to the state-wide debate on improving the economy and business environment in Rhode Island Representative-elect Place vows to “work with our state in assisting my fellow veterans in every way possible and ensure that veterans have access to all the programs they need.”

Former State Senator Jack Lyle is thrilled to be back in public office and ready to serve his constituents of the 46th State District.

Lyle served five terms in the Rhode Island Senate and stepped aside in 1994 in order to focus on his career as an educator and attorney. He stated that he believes that “the time has come to get back into the business of representing the citizens of Pawtucket and Lincoln at the State House.”

Lyle’s professional career includes 24 years as a classroom teacher and administrator at Lincoln High School, 6 years as the Principal at Central Falls High School and 2 years as the Superintendent of Schools on Block Island. In addition, he serves as an Of Counsel member of the Providence law firm LaPlante, Sowa and Goldman, and has been an Arbitrator through the National Center for Dispute Settlement.

“I have been really encouraged by the support that I have received in reaching out to local and state leaders as well as my family, friends and neighbors while contemplating this run,” he said. “There are a host of issues that I am concerned about, such as the infrastructure of our schools, the UHIP disaster, budgetary scooping of various state programs including our 911 call system, and restructuring DCYF, which must be addressed.”

“As one who has experienced being a member of the loyal opposition, I know the importance of working across party lines in order to build bridges to drive our state forward,” he concluded.

Finally, the caucus is pleased to welcome George Nardone. Nardone was elected to the District 28, representing Coventry. He is a passionate advocate for reducing the size of government and lowering taxes. George graduated from Scituate High School in 1982. After graduation he worked three years as a furniture upholster at the DJM company in Pawtucket and currently operates his own upholstery business.

He is a proud lifelong Rhode Island resident and has resided in District 28 for the past twenty years. He currently is a member of the Coventry Republican committee and National Republican committee. George and his wife Dawn have been married for the past twenty-three years and have one daughter, Nicole. George is “eager to get to work for his district and is looking to bringing his entrepreneurial skills to Smith Hill.”
