Rep. Costa Plans to Introduce Bill Banning Public Relations Expenditures by Outside Vendors2/22/2016

STATE HOUSE - Representative Doreen Costa, (Dist. 31-North Kingstown, Exeter), announced she plans to introduce legislation barring state government from paying for public relations services from outside vendors.
“I was unhappy to learn that the Department of Transportation was seeking $100,000 more in its budget to pay for public relations services to an outside vendor,” said Costa. “If we are truly looking to improve our roads and bridges then we should be spending money on that, not logos and other things that don’t actually improve our infrastructure. I know many people who would have designed the logo for free including me.”
“Our state needs to be fiscally prudent and I believe this is one way we can move toward that goal,” she said. -30-
