Demands Explanation for Every Penny Spent on Botched RI Tourism Campaign
STATE HOUSE - Representative Doreen Costa, (Dist. 31-North Kingstown, Exeter), has filed an Access to Public Records Act request with Governor Gina Raimondo’s office for records dealing with the tourism campaign video and marketing budget.
“After seeing the tourism video and logo that was released yesterday, I was underwhelmed by the work done. I also found the amount of money spent on this already-failed project incredulous,” said Costa. “I’ve asked the governor for an itemized budget for this tourism project as well as an itemized list of expenses that have been incurred to date.”
Costa said that earlier this year she called for an end to hiring out-of-state firms to work on Rhode Island public relations projects. “The inclusion of locations outside of our state in the video and other issues could have been avoided if we hired people who know Rhode Island. We have many talented people here who could have done a better job than what we received,” she said. -30-
