Providence, RI - Representative Robert B. Lancia (R-Dist. 16, Cranston) will be attending the NCSL Legislative Summit taking place July 30th to August 2nd in Los Angeles, CA. Rep. Lancia hopes to achieve positive results from the event, saying: “I am excited to bring home ideas that we can put into action in our state. Rhode Island is badly in need of innovative, creative solutions to our myriad problems. By examining these issues in a bipartisan, solutions-focused environment, I hope to achieve this.”

The NCSL is an opportunity for thousands of legislators from different geographical locations to come together and work toward solutions to common problems across the United States. It is the largest and most important gathering of the year for legislators and legislative staff. The Summit exhibits nationally renowned experts and a wide span of sessions to tackle critical issues facing state legislatures. They study these issues in a bipartisan format, which places importance on ideas forward and leaves partisan debate behind.

“In today’s political climate, it is important to attend these sessions and work towards goals that help states and individuals alike to succeed.” Rep. Lancia is prepared for an “unparalleled learning experience, networking, and inspiration at the 2018 Summit. The goal is to connect with legislative peers and fellow policy innovators.”

About rhode island house republicans

In 1636, Roger Williams, founder of Rhode Island, established the first working model of Democracy after being banished from Massachusetts for his “extreme views” concerning freedom of speech and religion. Thomas Jefferson and John Adams publicly acknowledged Williams as the originator of these concepts, along with the freedom of public assembly, in the First Amendment in the United States Constitution. Today, Rhode Island House Republicans uphold the liberties designed by our Founders and preserved in our Constitution, and are the primary legislative body promoting lean government, fighting for lower taxes, and advocating for initiatives and policies that improve the economy and in turn, the lives of Rhode Islanders.  As members of a part-time assembly, we are small business owners, retired educators, community activists, lawyers, farmers, military service veterans, volunteers, former local officials, retired social workers, coaches, musicians, churchgoers and board directors -- bringing these community engagement and professional experiences to our work, on your behalf, at the Rhode Island State House.
