GLOCESTER, RI - Rep. Michael Chippendale (R-District 40, Foster, Glocester, Coventry) conducted the swearing in of the new officers of the Glocester Business Association on Jan. 28 at the Crystal Lake Country Club.
"The GBA is an extremely active and visible partner with the community Glocester - it's always a pleasure for me to be invited to any event they have but I especially look forward to swearing in their new slate of officers and board members every year" said Chippendale. "It's one of the best parts of my job - hands down. Interacting with the people of District 40, and especially those who are as dedicated to serving the community as I am is truly a reward for me."

"As a small businessman myself I recognize the value that such an outstanding group brings to their community and the quality of the members of the GBA is top notch," said Chippendale. "Each and every member is dedicated not just to making their own businesses prosper, but to helping other business owners in Glocester understand and navigate the various steps necessary when operating a business in the town, and the state."

"I encourage all business owners in Glocester to consider joining this outstanding group of folks and enjoy all the benefits of working with other local business owners, as well as giving back to our community," he said.

The 2016 slate of officers for the Glocester Business Association are Vincent Lepore - President , Kathy Roberts - Vice President, Frank Stevensen - Treasurer, Hilary Collings - Secretary. The GBA Board members are Immediate Past President Karen Wocester-Wood,  Jill Stevensen, Michelle Keach, Dan Ribeiro, Kevin Kitson, Joseph Doura and Elizabeth Yuill.

The mission of the GBA is to bring business owners of Glocester together to work on strengthening the business climate of the town, represent the business interests of existing businesses as well as new or prospective businesses and to encourage its members to engage in civic and community activities and groups for the betterment of the town. The GBA strives to be a strong partner with the community by creating college scholarships, assistance in funding of local events such as the Ancients and Horribles Parade on Independence Day and by fostering a positive relationship between the business community and the townspeople they serve.

About rhode island house republicans

In 1636, Roger Williams, founder of Rhode Island, established the first working model of Democracy after being banished from Massachusetts for his “extreme views” concerning freedom of speech and religion. Thomas Jefferson and John Adams publicly acknowledged Williams as the originator of these concepts, along with the freedom of public assembly, in the First Amendment in the United States Constitution. Today, Rhode Island House Republicans uphold the liberties designed by our Founders and preserved in our Constitution, and are the primary legislative body promoting lean government, fighting for lower taxes, and advocating for initiatives and policies that improve the economy and in turn, the lives of Rhode Islanders.  As members of a part-time assembly, we are small business owners, retired educators, community activists, lawyers, farmers, military service veterans, volunteers, former local officials, retired social workers, coaches, musicians, churchgoers and board directors -- bringing these community engagement and professional experiences to our work, on your behalf, at the Rhode Island State House.
