Skydiving Event to Benefit Veterans
STATE HOUSE -- Representative Doreen Costa (R-District 31 North Kingstown, Exeter) will participate in this year’s Legislative Leap on Sunday, June 12th at 10:00 a.m. to benefit the Army National Guard and Reserves Emergency Fund. The Legislative Leap was organized by Representatives James McLaughlin and Robert Nardolillo.
“I cannot think of a more worthy cause, than to help our state’s veterans, who may be experiencing financial hardship,” said Costa. “In honor of 2nd Lieutenant Matthew Coutu who died in Iraq in 2005, a native of North Kingstown, I will be wearing an Army jersey honoring our Rhode Island fallen hero.”
Jumpers will be meeting at Skydive Newport located at 211 Airport Access Road in Middletown at 10:00 a.m. Checks in support of the Army National Guard and Reserves Emergency Fund may be made payable to: Rhode Island Military Family Relief Fund, 645 New London Avenue, Cranston, Rhode Island 02920. On the next jump, Representative Costa will be jumping in memory of Army Captain Matthew J. August of North Kingstown, Rhode Island. August was 28 years old when he became a Rhode Island fallen hero. Captain August was killed January 27, 2004 in an improvised explosive device attack in Khalidiyah, Iraq. -30-
