Providence, RI - Representative Elect Jack Lyle (R-Dist. 46, Lincoln, Pawtucket) has sent a formal letter to Attorney General Elect Peter Neronha asking that one of his first duties as Rhode Island’s Attorney General be opening a commission to investigate essential facts surrounding the infamous 38 Studios blunder.

Lyle stated: “It is readily apparent that the current Attorney General avoided addressing this pressing matter as a result of his former position as a member of the leadership team of a previous Speaker of the House. As I walked throughout my District, I repeatedly heard voters ask, ‘when are we going to get to the bottom of the 38 Studios deal?’ The citizens of our state are demanding answers and I am confident that under your leadership they will get them.”

Lyle continued “The stench of 38 Studios hovers over our state and will continue to hamper economic growth and development until the riddle is solved as to why taxpayers were left holding the bag to pay for this boondoggle. The bitter taste that this corrupt bargain left in the mouths of many Rhode Islanders resulted directly in the imminent departure of the PawSox. The time has come to make those who were responsible for this unfortunate situation culpable, so this won’t happen again.”

About rhode island house republicans

In 1636, Roger Williams, founder of Rhode Island, established the first working model of Democracy after being banished from Massachusetts for his “extreme views” concerning freedom of speech and religion. Thomas Jefferson and John Adams publicly acknowledged Williams as the originator of these concepts, along with the freedom of public assembly, in the First Amendment in the United States Constitution. Today, Rhode Island House Republicans uphold the liberties designed by our Founders and preserved in our Constitution, and are the primary legislative body promoting lean government, fighting for lower taxes, and advocating for initiatives and policies that improve the economy and in turn, the lives of Rhode Islanders.  As members of a part-time assembly, we are small business owners, retired educators, community activists, lawyers, farmers, military service veterans, volunteers, former local officials, retired social workers, coaches, musicians, churchgoers and board directors -- bringing these community engagement and professional experiences to our work, on your behalf, at the Rhode Island State House.
